PREPERATORY YEARS
The Preparatory Years at the Johane Casabene Dance Conservatoire are where young dancers take their first confident steps into the world of dance.
Carefully designed for children aged 5-8, these years lay the technical, musical, and artistic groundwork needed to flourish in later stages of conservatoire training.
With an emphasis on joy, structure, and creativity, students are gently guided into disciplined practice.

A preparatory dance programme for ages 5–8 is designed to introduce young dancers to the fundamentals of movement in a fun, supportive, and structured environment. At this stage, the focus is on building coordination, musicality, spatial awareness, and basic technique, while nurturing creativity and confidence.
Children explore a variety of styles—often including pre-ballet, basic modern or jazz movement, and rhythm work—through imaginative exercises and simple choreography. Classes are age-appropriate, balancing discipline with play, and often incorporate storytelling or themed movement to keep young dancers engaged.
This programme lays the foundation for future training, helping children develop body awareness, classroom etiquette, and a love for dance that supports progression into more formal technique classes as they grow.
