Contemporary dance is a fluid and expressive style that blends elements of ballet, modern, and postmodern dance. Known for its versatility, it emphasises floor work, weight shifts, release, and improvisation, allowing dancers to explore natural, organic movement. It often challenges traditional structures, encouraging creativity and emotional expression.

It is widely performed on international stages, making it a leading form for artistic exploration and innovation in the dance world today.

Modern Theatre (Jazz Dance)
Jazz dance is an energetic and expressive style that draws from African, Caribbean, and American dance traditions, evolving alongside jazz music. Characterized by syncopated rhythms, isolations, turns, and kicks, it emphasizes both technical skill and expressive performance.
Jazz dance has developed through Broadway, Hollywood musicals, and commercial stages, making it highly versatile. It encourages individuality and musical interpretation while demanding precision and strength.
Dancers trained in this method develop strong coordination and the ability to analyse movement, essential skills for quickly adapting to the diverse styles encountered in a professional career.

Tap Dance
Tap dance is a rhythmic and percussive dance style where dancers create sound by striking the floor with metal plates attached to their shoes.
Originating in the United States, it combines African rhythms with Irish step dance influences, evolving into both theatrical and street forms. Tap requires precision, timing, and musicality, turning the dancer into both a mover and a musician. Today, tap has evolved into a sophisticated style featured in both stage performances and films.
At the Dance Conservatoire, we offer classes for all ages and skill levels, providing a unique opportunity to dance and experience rhythm.
